The Lover's Dictionary

The Lover's Dictionary - David Levithan You would probably appreciate this book more if you're in love/in a relationship or in love with the idea of "love". Which apparently neither I am, so maybe I'll read this again when the time comes. :-)I think it is bittersweet and funny, and you will surely relate to this book if your in love, you'll read about insecurities of a lover, heartbreaks, acceptance of "blemishes" and imperfections. It is especially unique the way it was written.
"…every time you retell the story you are beaten again. …even after the thing is past, you are still affected by it every day."

Confucius From the Heart by Yu Dan

"I was not a lovable child, and I’d grown into a deeply unlovable adult. Draw a picture of my soul, and it’d be a scribble with fangs."

Gillian Flynn, Dark Places

Reblogged from Realms of an Open Mind:

Wonder

Wonder - R.J. Palacio 4.5/5

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs 3.5/5 I actually didn't find it hard to read, I love the photos which kind of eerie but cool, some are boring but okay. but one thing that bothers me, is that, Jacob kissed/likes his grandfather's ex? okay whatever, and I think this whole uncool (rich) kid who turns out to have supernatural powers who falls in love with someone who also have powers is just too repetitive (in these type of genre).

The Stranger

The Stranger - Albert Camus, Matthew Ward It is a book that shows what is inside the mind of a person who thinks living is absurd, (At first I really thought he is a psychopath, 'cause from what I noticed, he is cold-blooded, indifferent to people and apathetic. He is taciturn but is intelligent and speaks honestly). He was very indifferent with his mother's death, nothing seems interests him, and nothing is important to him, even his own life, or the life of others, and he doesn't even bother to think if he believes in God or not, just because the thought of thinking about it doesn't interest him.Even at the brink of his death, waiting for his own condemnation, he was only interested on how the guillotine works, or if there would be any loophole in which he can escape his inevitable death. Repentance did not even pass his mind, as would other criminal would probably think before their execution.I really don't know if I like him or not, well it really doesn't matter.

The Best of Chico, Delamar, and Gino's The Morning Rush Top 10, Book 2

The Best of Chico, Delamar, and Gino's The Morning Rush Top 10, Book 2 - Chico Garcia, Delamar Arias, Gino Quillamor 3-3.5/5 I must say I still like the first book than this second one. Maybe because the first one had a variation of topics, unlike this second book, which mostly has love, sex, and those fad topics today: beki problems, mature topics. Some (if not several) of the jokes are even old.But if you like the first book and you're a fan of RXTMR, I think you should check it out. I admit I still got a load of fun from reading this book. I also recommend sharing and reading it with your friends, you will definitely have a good time sharing laughs together! :)

We Need to Talk about Kevin

We Need to Talk About Kevin - Lionel Shriver I've seen the movie first before I discovered that it was actually a novel. And I was very intrigued why Kevin acts that way so I read the book. I love the book in a way that I see myself in Kevin (but not the murderous type)...

The Return of the King: Being the Third Part of The Lord of the Rings

The Return of the King - J.R.R. Tolkien Tolkien is a genius. :)

Before I Fall

Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver reminds me of the movie "The Butterfly Effect".

What We Don't Know about Children

What We Don't Know about Children - Simona Vinci 3.5-4/5

Nineteen Seventy-nine: A Big Year in a Small Town

Nineteen Seventy Nine: A Big Year In A Small Town - Rhona Cameron A funny and sad story about a struggle to find true identity, expressing one's youthful feelings towards the same sex, facing sexuality, and expressing one's self.
